A customer was looking to replace a long worn coffee table from a well known Swedish furniture store. After meeting with then to discuss ideas, dimensions, styles and finishes we provided a unique design that met the initial brief with the choice of either a walnut hardwood or a softwood finished in walnut dye.
The final piece was made from quality softwood, finished in walnut dye to great effect. The base is made from 81 individual spindles to achieve a diameter approx. 540mm. The top was made from multiple boards, jointed and cut to a 800mm diameter, with an edge formed with a large top radius and a generous complimentary bottom chamfer. Multiple coats of a quality water based walnut dye and varnish coat produce a deep, penetrating colour that highlights the natural grain a figuring of the wood.
